VPBank and MobiFone Sign Strategic Partnership: Shaping a Comprehensive Integrated Financial – Telecommunications Service Model

The initial highlight of this collaboration is the joint deployment of the comprehensive mobiPOS digital payment solution for the public administration sector. This solution integrates a cashless payment system between MobiFone's mobiPOS platform and VPBank's payment solutions such as SmartPOS, SoftPOS, QR Payment, Ecompay, etc. This integration supports state agencies, public administrative centers, and public transaction points in modernizing revenue and expenditure processes, enhancing transparency, convenience, and security for citizens. This system has been successfully piloted and is ready for nationwide replication at MobiFone's transaction points in the near future.

The two parties are also collaborating on implementing an Agent Banking model across MobiFone's nationwide network of sales points and stores. Once deployed, this model will enable residents in rural and remote areas to access essential financial services such as eKYC account opening, interbank cash deposit/withdrawal, bill payments, telecommunication top-ups, credit card applications, and consumer loans, leveraging MobiFone's existing infrastructure. This represents a promising direction to promote financial inclusion and support the goal of universalizing banking services to individuals without traditional bank accounts.

The strategic partnership between VPBank and MobiFone focuses on developing an integrated digital financial product portfolio, with mobile devices as the central touchpoint, including:

  • Opening VPBank accounts, applying for credit cards, and utilizing savings services via the My MobiFone application and MobiFone Money e-wallet.

  • Mobile subscriber scoring (MobiScoring) – based on consumer behavior analysis from telecommunications data.

  • "Buy Now Pay Later" payment model for telecommunication services.

  • eKYC identification solution via chip-embedded citizen ID cards.

In the medium term, the two parties have agreed to jointly develop the "SME Biz Hub" platform – a comprehensive financial-telecommunication solution for small and medium-sized enterprises. This solution will seamlessly integrate services such as e-invoicing, corporate credit, specialized payment cards, preferential data packages, etc., to support the digital transformation of SMEs in Vietnam.

Deep and Long-Term Partnership

The cooperation between VPBank and MobiFone extends beyond product-level collaboration; it is the culmination of a strategic bond initiated in 2017. In the initial phase, the two parties collaborated on consumer loans via mobile subscribers, co-branded credit cards, and cross-customer preferential programs and care.

During the COVID-19 pandemic (2020–2022), the two parties quickly coordinated to develop contactless payment solutions (QR Pay), integrate e-wallets, and connect the banking-telecom ecosystem, contributing to meeting the surge in digital transaction demands.

From 2023–2025, the cooperation continued to be elevated with deep integration of payment solutions and operational platforms between the two parties. Beyond finance-telecommunications, VPBank and MobiFone have also expanded cooperation into digital technology services such as CRM systems, eOffice, Cloud, ClipTV television, digital healthcare solutions, and online English training for businesses.

This synergy will not only enhance customer experience but also expand access to digital services for society as a whole – especially in areas with limited financial infrastructure. Through this, both parties contribute to promoting the digital economy and building a safe, comprehensive, and sustainably developing digital nation.
